Important Steps To Creating A Website.

By zoe | Dec 29, 2009

If you are starting a new company then a successful, well designed website is imperative to your business launch. More and more business is now being done on the internet from the comfort of your own home. However, it is important to design a site that is eye catching, simple to use and to the point.

Too many people make the mistake of having ‘busy’ sites. These sites include too many photos, too much irrelevant text, lary backgrounds and too many advertising banners. A busy site, that takes too long to download, will inevitably lose you visitors.

A well designed and thought out site should have an attractive background colour, be easy to read and contain crisp and short captions and sentences. These will engage the reader to read more and not click off of your site.

Your site should be continuously renewed with new, fresh content as some people will visit your site, time and time again, and ensure the content of your site answers all of your visitor’s questions.

Adding flash into your site will make the site more visually pleasing but may well take longer to download. You can also use roll over text, insert spinning photos and other special effects for example. Videos can also be uploaded but remember visitors may well be put off when videos download too slowly.

Being able to navigate through the site easily is imperative. Navigation bars can be downloaded or customized buttons inserted. Remember to check all links after you have added any buttons to make sure they all lead to the relevant chosen page.

Finally add contact details. A well marketed and designed site can bring you volumes of traffic so ensure all contact details are added and correct. Again check all internal and external links, email addresses and contact numbers to avoid loss of custom.
